Why You'll Love Them

  • Fussy Cutting Fun: Mix and match fabric colors and prints to create one-of-a-kind patchwork designs. Choose from three square sizes: 2.25", 1.75" and 1.5". We used Lori Holt Cute Cuts rulers.
  • Fits Most Hoops: Small finished sizes (4.5" to 5.25") stitch on hoops from 5x7 to 7x12, so they work on most embroidery machines.
  • Embroidery + Sewing: The patchwork panel uses a fun and easy method with your sewing machine, then the jar opener get assembled in the hoop of your embroidery machine. Finish with a quick seal from seam tape, or secure with your sewing machine. (It's easier than it sounds!)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a physical product?

No. This is a digital pattern. You'll download the embroidery files and PDF instructions right after purchase.

Do I need a sewing machine?

Yes! Although this is an in-the-hoop design, you'll use your sewing machine to piece the patchwork fabrics and optionally finish the jar opener backing.

Can I skip the fussy cutting?

Absolutely! Just cut your fabrics to the listed sizes and make a fun patchwork panel. You don't need special rulers.

Which embroidery machines are compatible?

Any embroidery machine that reads one of the included formats (ART, DST, EXP, JEF, HUS, VIP, VP3), including Brother, Baby Lock, Bernina, Janome, Husqvarna Viking, Melco, Pfaff, Tajima, and other machines that support these file formats.

Can I sell finished jar openers?

Yes! You can make and sell up to 500 finished products at craft fairs, on Etsy and through other retail outlets. That makes these perfect for small business makers and craft fair sellers.

Which finished size should I choose?

It depends! The sizes are similar, so choose the one that matches the mini rulers you already have.

Should I do a test stitch first?

We recommend a test stitch with scrap fabric to check fit and finish. It helps you perfect your patchwork layout before you cut into your favorite prints.
